I went to work for Universe because my father had history with them. I had a year and some months experience when I went to work for them, but they treated me like I didn't know anything.
The orientation was three days and I only was paid 50 dollars. Orientation was given by Saftey director, and was constantly interrupted.
I was fired from the place because of an accident. Normally, it would be understandable, but one other driver reported that my father rolled a truck because he parked on the shoulder of a rest area. All I did was hit a post in front of a fuel pump.
That lead me to believe that I was fired simply because I adamently refused to falsify my log books. It being illegal might have had something to do with it.
Also, they expected me to make a phone call every day to check in, even when at home for home time. They are the only company out of the 4 I've worked for that requires it. When I was told that, I mentioned to someone who was with me that I thought having to do so was BS. Company official got on my case for expressing my views in a private conversation to someone else, and threatened to fire me for it.
I'm glad I got fired, though. Everytime I went to work, I felt like I was going to get in trouble for something I wasn't aware of.
I now work for Marten. Marten, to me, is the best company out of those I've worked for.
