Americredit are liars and theives. I had got a loan through Americredit for a vehicle that the dealer over charged me for with a high intrest rate, due to some unfortunate housing issues, I had to move and with little notice. I informed americredit immediately about the move and the need to postpone my first payment due to the move. But after finding a place I had a hard time affording my car payment.
I called Americredit to try to get a lower payment and they refused to negotiate, and after making several payments that I really couldn't afford, although late, or partial I was continually harassed by this company. When I finally had enough I stopped taking their calls that would end up putting excessive stress due to their threats against taking my only means of transportation from me, and I couldn't trade it in because I had been put with multiple bad marks from this company due to the late payments.
Since I live in Colorado I know I am supposed to get a right to correct at least 20 days prior to any attempt to repossess the vehicle. I was at my primary job answering calls when my supervisor came and took me off the phones stating that my vehicle was being repossessed.
I had gotten no letter about their intent to do so, and I had never volunteer offered to let them take my car. When the repossessor came to the front asking me for my keys, I informed him that I had not received the proper paperwork and that he couldn't take it. He stated that he had the proper paper work and that he could take the vehicle. I asked him if I could get my personal property out of the vehicle which included my childs only car seat, and he refused unless I gave him my copy of the keys for the car.
He refused and left. I called Americredit and asked tried to ask for them to fax the right to correct letter over to me, and was told that it was sent, but I never got a copy. I was also told that I could not get it faxed over because the department that I was speaking to had no copy of that document and that customer service had to take care of that.
These thieves had to right to take my car with out giving me proper notification, and confirming that I received it. Beware of Americredit they say they work with you but only if you are never late or never have a financial difficulty.
