I purchased a 2000 S500 Mercedes for $23,3337.00 which included a $2,283.00 30 month warranty, a $1,000.00 shipping fee and a $55.00 document fee on 7/27/06 with a check from EBAY'S HSBC Financing.
The car description claimed it to be in excellent condition in all categories. But upon arrival the car was not at all as described.
1) The dash lights did not work and therefore the mileage could not be checked and verified, 2) There was spots of welded or painted over rust on the car, 3) The trunk could not be opened, 4) Leftside front seat panel aroung seat was broken and electrical wires were exposed, 5) There was no paper work on vehicle present at all, 6) Seat belts and carpets had rust on them, 7) There were several scratches on car. So I did no take possession og the car because of these problems, so it was put into storage by the shipper.
After being directed to get the car out of storage I took it to Penske Motorcars (MBZ Dealer) because it was having problems on the freeway.
The following repairs had to done: repair the dash lights and replace the passenger side mirror motor which was inoperable, replace the plastic cover with exposed wires on the drivers seat, all four rotors had to be replaced, a new key had to be order because the current one was causing some of the electrical problems, the total repair costs to get the car running properly came to $2,519.25.
The seller has refused to do anything. Also, the 30 month warranty I paid for upon purchase on 7/27/06 I have never received. Also, it took almost over 2 weeks to get my title from this seller and it only came after threatening to take him to court and contacting the Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau of Illinois.
