I purchased a car from Brown Pontiac on Wednesday August 30th. It was a used vehicle, a 2002 Pontiac Aztec. Not even a week after we purchased the vehicle, it started to overheat. We took it back to the dealer and they told us the headgasket was completely busted, and it was going to cost $1300.00 to get fixed. I will say that the gentleman who sold us the car was wonderful and extremely sympathetic. However, his manager Pete Michalak, was very rude to me. He said that their was nothing he could do, and it must have been our fault. I explained to Pete that we only had the car for less than a week and it was only being driven to and from work.
Our warranty covered 50%, but I still feel that good customer service would have played a bigger role and he would've fixed the vehicle at no charge. Pete said he wouldn't deal with my arguing, and that he's been more than cooperative. He said that my little problem wouldn't cause a place so big to "go under" and if I wanted to call and complain, to go ahead and do so and that it wouldn't make a difference. He refused to give me his supervisors name and told me that if I did not want to get my car fixed there, that I should come and pick up my "lemon" and have it fixed somewhere else. We searched long and hard for a good vehicle that would suit our needs.
We, like many, are on a tight budget, and now have to come up with over $400.00 to fix a car that we purchased less than a week ago. I feel that Brown Pontiac has absolutley cheated us, and I just hope that no one else has to go through what I have been through these past few days. I told Pete Michalak that I would stop at nothing until I exposed him for who he is. This report is just the beginning. At the least, he could have been a little nicer towards my sitation, and maybe there wouldn't be such hard feelings, but his customer service was terrible!!! Word to the Wise: Avoid Brown Pontiac in Toledo, Ohio!!!
