Friday Aprx. 5:20pm looked at and test drove 1998 Dodge Intrepid.
Took home after cash purchase; wife hates car.
Attempt to show family value of car on internet.internet reveals car has overwhelming history of engine failures (2.7 V6)
Saturday: Call placed early morning to dealership and was instructed by Sales Manager to return car.
On arrival consumer was steered to General Manager who said "A deal is a deal" When asked about engine and tranny reliability he stated "This model has no more problems that any other vehicle"
Refused to take return of vehicle.
Sunday: Consumer observed upon starting, copious amounts of blue smoke that smell like burned oil. Car is shut down. (buyers guide indicates No is checked by signs of excessive oil consumption). This vehicle had not been driven 50 miles.
Wednesday: 7/05/06 10:00am. Car is taken to Van Horn Dodge Dealer for repair of wheelbearing that was disclosed on buyers guide. Service Dept states they had no appt. Appointment was not made by Sales Person Travis Lorenz. They said they didn't have loaner available as promised by sales person. GM said they would look into blue smoke & engine light. Service Dept also told of tranny shifting hard and racing engine
Wednesday: 07/05/06 12:10pm. Vehicle returned to dealer as wheel bearing is now squealing. Engine still racing, still blue smoke, tranny shifting hard.
Wednesday: 07/05/06 4:00pm. Wisconsin Dept of Transportation contacted. DOT is sending out complaint form to consumer. DOT on phone said it sounds like valid complaint and will investigate upon receiving returned complaint.
