Right Toyota
Ripoff dishonest salesmen and overall somewhat elementary

My boyfriend and I have been looking around for the right car for a while, I own a Chevy Malibu LS and am handing it down to my sister as her first car. We came accross the Toyota Camry and thought it'd be a good idea to go to the Toyota dealership, 10 minutes from my apartment.

We were greeted by what seemed an awkward salesman named "David Noonan" and we let him know that we would like to take a look at the Camry's interior. I'm sure anyone else out there looking for a Camry knows that the online pictures are very bad. He said there were none out in the main lot but they had some in the back that according to him belonged to other customers. We sat in the car and turned it on to see the displays and such and were somewhat left a little uneasy that David had no clue what some of the specs were on the car, i.E. Fog lights, engine, etc... Much less did he know the differences between the LE and the CE. So we had enough of looking in the car and began heading back towards the front, he asked if we'd like to go in and do some figures... We figured, "hey it won't hurt."

As we walked into the cubicle he told us that we could do a test drive on the one we had just looked at in the back. We didn't think anything of it and went for a 5 minute drive.

Upon returning, we sat down, and he gave us some figures for financing a 2007 Camry LE with $5k down. I was being honest and let him know that it was not within my price range, the only way it'd be in my price range would be if I were to receive the car at invoice price. He went to ask his sales manager if that would be possible, and he came back with the manager. He told us we could lease for a much affordable price. I was uneasy about leasing until he gave me a $0/250-270 per month offer. I thought it was perfect. I told him my dad would be the one co-signing my loan and I would need to speak to him first before making any sort of decision. The weird thing when they gave me the offer was that they had said I could even get that Camry we had done a test-drive on that night, which was being held for a customer.

I let the sales manager know that Monday would be more appropriate for them to contact my dad and collect his information. He aggreed and I asked him for a business card. The card read "Chris Block." We shook hands and David said he would give me a call on Monday.

On Sunday, I was very ecstatic about the whole deal, my dad thought it was all a good idea. I called David and he did not answer, which was fine, I left him a voicemail letting him know I changed my mind on the color preferences. There were no cars avaiable on the lot so he had had me give him a list of colors I would prefer. He did not return my call on Sunday, I figured he was probably not at work.

Come Monday (6/12), still no call right around 4 PM. I called my boyfriend and told him that he should call David because Monday was the day we had aggreed upon would be reasonable to call my dad. David did not answer up until around 5:30 PM, and told my boyfriend he was not at his desk and the call was dropped. We called "Chris Block" and he didn't answer either, and I, like an idiot, left him a voicemail asking him to forward any salesman to me that is available because David is not doing a decent job.

We call the dealership and they tell us David had already left and Chris was off. We decided to drive to the dealership and have someone contact my dad to fill out his credit app. A free salesman offered to help and he contacted my dad. He acted very shady and never ran his credit. He told us he would be forwarding it to David, so he could work on it. So that wasn't much help, except for the fact they got the credit info out of the way.

Tuesday, mid-afternoon, my boyfriend calls David to let him know that we had gone in and had my dad contacted, so the credit app was filled out. He asked my boyfriend "What kind of deal were you looking for?" Like as if the jerk did not remember, my boyfriend re-stated what "Chris Block" had told us... And come to find out, he told my boyfriend that we never spoke to "Chris Block", the sales manager's name was John Ferris. So that's a shoker already. He then told my boyfriend they could not do the deal, my boyfriend told him that we were told that they'd give us until Monday to decide. David then responded with, "the deal was only for that night. And we were seeing how interested you really were in the car." My boyfriend told me that all of these life, within probably 20 seconds, caught him off-guard and he did not know how to respond. My boyfriend let him know that we would just go elsewhere and hung up on David.

I have contacted the Toyota Customer Service via a 1-800 number and email, and have also tried to reach the CR mananger (Jane) who seems to be on vacation. I have been told by many people to go elsewhere, but I am not going to.

I am a strong believer in having the poeple who need to know of a customer service problem, know. Many times, the higher-up managers never hear from dissatisfied customers and thus become complacent with their sales-staff.

I am giving Right Toyota until tomorrow, Thursday (6/15) before I go in an demand service. This is ridiculous, and these guys are not going to have the upper hand on this. They are there to serve customers and of course make sales. But just like with everything, there is a line between ethical and unethical. If anyone has any advise, let me know! Many Thanks~
