This company must be avoided. They regularly damage vehicles in transit and they are experts at denying damage claims. They sell worthless insurance which is a CRIMINAL ACT. We have nothing positive to say about DAS. Even if you buy their "Valuation Coverage" DAS will not pay your damage claim.
We shipped our vintage 1957 Mercedes Benz with DAS. Many victims choose DAS because they are referred by eBay and others. DAS pays these referral sites a hefty referral fee so they constantly get new business, regardless of their horrible reputation. We purchased their "Valuation Coverage" to cover any possible damage in transit.
The problem is that DAS is SELF INSURED. They sell you their insurance, then simply do not honor the damage claims. Our car has been at the body shop for the past year. DAS sent their "Appraiser" out to evaluate the damage, but refused to pay for the severe damage they did to the car. They paid nothing, even though we bought their insurance!
BOTTOM LINE: DAS is selling worthless insurance. This is a criminal matter which we will now take-up with the Texas, New Jersey, and California attorney general's offices.
WE URGE ALL OTHER DAS VICTIMS TO DO THE SAME. Our attorney has advised us that a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT should be filed against the company.in order to begin the lawsuit, DAS vicitms must come together. We all need to sponsor a special website for example, so that we can all work together on this.

In the meanwhile, go to your local district attorney's office or state attorney general's office and report your experience. Selling worthless insurance is a crime. Report this criminal conduct to your state's insurance commissioner. Write and call ebay to demand that they stop pushing this rip-off company. Go to the press with your story. We are preparing to file a class-action lawsuit against Dependable Auto Shippers and we need your help. DAS severly damaged our vintage Mercedes-Benz, and now they won't pay for the repair even though we purchased the additional "Valuation Coverage. DAS did not even send their appraiser/adjuster out to our body shop as promised. DAS will not return our telephone calls.
When they delivered our car, the driver filled-out a DAS condition report. However, the driver refused to indicate all the damage DAS did to the car. The driver informed us that we were not permitted to write on the condition reportexcept to sign at the bottom of the page thereby releasing DAS from all responsibility for the damage.
DAS is self insured. DAS does not routinely disclose their self-insured status to the public. This information is not disclosed on their website. There is no disclosure by DAS which details the Valuation Coverage policy terms or what coverage is actually included.
Their drivers are well trained. According to many of the complaints posted on the internet, it seems that the insurance which DAS is selling to consumersinsurance which customers typically buy to protect their vehicles from DAS's negligenceis often worthless. Many of the complaints state that DAS employees administer the coverage in such a way that DAS avoids paying legitimate claims, or those claims are substantially under paid. According to many of the internet postings, DAS's self-administered Valuation Coverage is actually an elaborately orchestrated bait-and-switch scheme.
There are countless similar such cases described on various consumer review internet sites. That is how we found you.internet review sites are a good way to warn others about a company's unfair, illegal, or deceptive trade practices. However, unless DAS victims come together and take action, the company will simply continue to harm the public.
