Complaint / Review
Kwik Car
Ripoff dishonest

On April 14 (Good Friday), my Ford Ranger truck was serviced at Kwik Kar. This was approximately the 6th visit to their establishment.

After the standard lube (with additional engine flush), I drove the truck 5 miles when the truck reved to 3200 RPM's when out of gear. (I have a manual transmssion).

Upon returning home, I opened the hood to find that the engine coolant cap was nearly off and anti-freeze was rushing out. Also, a hose connection from the intake manifold to the air breather was unplugged.

Thinking that these things were the culprits of my engine over-revving, such as a vacuum leak, I replaced the anti freeze and tightened the cap, and re-attached the breather hose. This did not stop The high idle rev.

I returned to Kwik Kar, to be told that an electronic sensor had gone out, and that it would be 10:00 am the next day before one would be available.
I was advise to call at 10:00 the next morning.

At 10:00 the part had not arrived. At 12:00 the part had not arrived.

At 2:00 pm, I visited Kwik Kar to be told that Helfman Ford (the Ford dealer where my part was coming from), had delivered the wrong part, that the part delivered was for an F-150, and that the manager of Helfman's parts department would deliver the part personally when Helfman's part department closed at 3:00 pm.

Thsi is where it gets interesting. I purchased my vehicle from Helfman Ford, so I knew that their parts department is closed on Saturday. Thinking that maybe Kwik Kar had a special arrangement with Helfman, I drove to Helfman to find out if they delivered parts on Saturday, and I was told "No, our parts department is closed, and all deliveries are made Monday through Friday".

After all of the running around (30 miles) my truck started to idle correctly, which leads me to believe that:
a) it was a vacuum leak that had by now worked itself out, or
b) with the anti freeze cap barely on, the anti freeze got on the switch and now had time to dried it out.

Either way, I did not need the part, which is okay because it wasn't coming anyway.

1) Why did Kwik Kar try to sell me a part I did not need?
2) Why did they give me the run around story the part shipping to them, when the dealer they claimed to get the part from wasn't even open to deliver it? Wouldn't it have been better to say" We won't have it until Monday?"

Kwik Kar closes at 4:00 pm on Saturday. My last conversation with them was at 2:00 pm, when I had asked to have them call me at 4:00 to either have the part installed, or to make arrangements for myself to meet the delivery, if they where closed.

Of course by 4:00 pm, I knew the part was not coming.

By the way, It is now Monday April 24th, and I am still waiting for Kwik Kar to call me to tell me that the part has arrived!
