Originally I was told that it would be $740 for 6 months with $246 down. About 2 days before my next payment was due they emailed me with a rate increase to $1168. Their reasons were that they could not verify my accident history. I emailed them back questioning why they couldn't verify that, and that I have never had an accident or even a ticket!
The response was that I needed to provide them with a letter of experience (come to find out that letter takes about 10 business days to get) I called customer service and they said that in the meatime I would be charged the higher rate.
I was furious and by the end of the conversation I told her I wished to cancel my insurance and she said that was fine but since they had to increase my insurance, I would be responsible for the difference in down payment of $143 and also a $50 cancellation fee. I refused and told her I do not agree and I never saw anything about a $50 cancellation fee. I also told her that I have revoked any previous right to charge on my credit card and she said there was nothing I could do about that. It will be charged. I contacted my credit card company and told them that I do not authorize any charges from Esurance and it has been a few days and they haven't tried.
I have since gone with Allstate and have learned my lesson on dealing with "low-cost" insurance. And to top it off Allstate gave me a better rate.
