Automotice Repair ripoff, theiving, deceptive, profit by scam and misuse of services

I took my car up to MIDAS to have my exhaust pipe replaced from the catylitic converter to the muffler. A freind checked out my car and seen the converter and checked to see how solid it was. I was very solid. I drove less then a mile to MIDAS on W. Washington.
The workman put my car up on a hoist then brought it back down. It was down for about 10 minutes, then he took it back up. Then motioned for me to come look at my car. He showed me where my Catylitic converter was suppose to be, and told me it all had to be replaced. The muffler was still attached to the pipe which was bent and tried back with a rope tucked inside the hatchback; or I'm sure that too would have come up missing.

I refused to allow him to work on my car and told him to bring it down. I asked what he did with the catylitic converter. He said there was not one on it.

The Catylitic converter I had on there was not small, nor was it light. I would have heard it come off. Not to mention my car sets close to the ground, I don't believe it could have just fallen off without making any noice or bumping, grinding, pulling or scraping. I am a female, and I'll admit I have very limited knowledge on converters; However, the space under woud not have allowed that part to -just - fall off without making some kind of notice.

When I refused to allow him to work on my car, he and the two other employees in the garage laughed and had quite a time at my expense. They could not believe that I would just not buy one. After all, it is quite illegal to drive a car without the converter. I HAD to get one. The employee was shocked almost as if that had never happened to him before. I do have to wonder now - How many times has it happened.

I went home and called the district office 1-800-659-4686, and made a complaint. "No employee from MIDAS would -EVER - do such a thing." He refused to listen to my concerns, and told me I was wrong. No one would steal my converter. I ended up hanging up as the man had no interest in knowing and correcting this problem.
I then called up the MIDAS shop where the theft took place to get the name of the fellow who stole the converter to make this report. The man hung up on me.

I called back and talked with the manager there, Holly. She told me not to call back as I was harrassing them. And her District Manager told her not to talk to me.
I then filed a police report with the Indianapolis Sheriff's Department. He stated that most cases like these never get resolved, as it is hard to prove the theft. They have total access to their tools and their customer's cars. Then they can turn right round and resell the items they stole.

From my experience I've near heard nothing but good things from MIDAS and would not have went there if they had not been recomended to me.
