I went in for routine oil change at Discount Tires Center in Northridge, CA and the mechanic tells me later I need my CV boots and tires replaced. I'm extremly suspcious because I just had my brakes worked on less than a month before and my mechanic would have definately mentioned something. He proceeds to show me the two split CV boots and the oily area on the control arms. My vehicle has 75k miles and just turned 6yrs old and I have never seen leaks or oily spots from underneath.
I tell him I will have my own mechanic do the repair and he loses his temper because I won't let him do the work. He keeps at telling me how I can cause further damage to the axles and possibly cause an accident if I don't get this fixed right away.
I get home and look under my vehicle again, strange how that the oily spot are now covered with debris and gravel, didn't look this way up on the lift at the shop.
I now know to only have my car serviced at a place where I can watch them like a hawk while the work is being performed. I want that mechanic to feel my gaze burning on the back of his neck.
