I purchased an Eclipse from Sport in 2003 brand new. The year of 2005 I noticed that the paint was cracked and turning white. I took the car to the dealer for them to tell me there was nothing wrong with the paint. After washing the car weeks later the paint was worse. I took the car back and the first thing they wanted to know was if the car was in warranty. While speaking to Mr. Harris the body shop manager I was informed that it was nothing that I had done that it was defective paint. I was also informed that Mitsubishi has been aware of the problem company wide. I was told that the black paint that they had been using was defective. Why then did Mitsubishi continue to sell cars with defective paint and not advise the customers. Therefore they DID NOT stand behind their product no matter what anyone says.
