My vehicle was falsely reported in an accident. The claim was that my vehicle while parking in reverse struck a person. I was also said that the vehicle left the scene of the loss.
When Progressive called me and said that my vehicle was in an minor accident that I did not report, my response to them was that "you must be mistaken, I was in no accident. I went on to explain to them that according to their date of the loss I was in the hospital recouperating from a knee replacement surgery.
They asked for documentation to prove this which I provided. They later came back and asked who has keys to the car, where were the keys, does anyone else drive the vehicle ect and they examined my vehicle finding no signs of it being in any accident. My response was no and at the time of the loss the keys were with me in the hospital and I only have one set. They asked if I had children, I replied yes, a daughter who lives a little ways away. They wanted to meet her, I asked why. They said that because it's a possibility that she was driving the vehicle.
I further explained to them that my daughter does not drive, she does not even have a drivers liscense. They continued to harass me about my daughter who is a medical professional with two children who did not have time to meet with these people for no reason. Anyway the investigator became tired of trying I assume and said to me "Look Ms *, just say you were driving the car and it will be over and done with. I said to him 'how could I possibly say something like that when it is not true. He became aggressive and said if you don't arrange for me to meet with your daughter or show me a picture of her this claim will be dumped on you.
Low and behold about 3 weeks later I recieve a letter in the mail stating that They have determined that my vehicle was indeed involved in a loss and will be making payments, I will be charged. I called progressive and asked them "what is going on, how could you do this, I am told that it was more than one person that I allegedly injured and that I drove away from the scene of the accident. They refused to provide a police report for me to see, medical records or hospital records, they have shown me nothing.
I am so frustrated because they have now dumped this claim on me, when my car nor I were ever involved in. They have placed a false claim against me and are making me pay for it.
