In june I walked into bill kay pontiac in downers grove illinois. I was interested in buying a 2002 pontiac trans am with low miles. Before purchasing I asked to see a copy of the car fax vehical history report. Everyone at the dealer told me that service was not available for that car. I didn't know any better so I asked if the car had ever been in an accident. The general manager, salesman, and even the finance manager all told me it had never even been driven in the rain let alone in an accident. So I bought the car.
EXACTLY 72 hours after driving it off the lot the entire rear axel fell apart causing $1700.00 in damage. Keep in mind I had purchased an extended warrenty for $2000.00. So I took the car into service where I was told my claim was denied because of excessive damage. Now I started to speculate. The general manager cussed me out on the phone telling me I had to have caused major damage to the car. At this point I had put 27.5 miles on the car. How could I ruin the car putting 27.5 miles on it?! The general manager (Mr. Shaw) continued to swear at me and talk to me as though I was 6 years old.
So I payed half of the damage fee and went home and ran a carfax report. Turns out the car that "had never been drove in the rain" had been in 4 major accidents. One of which involved an engine rebuild. I had been sold a lemon for $23,000.00. I was enraged. I contacted the general manager, and finance manger and told them I would be placing a stop payment on my down payment and returning the car. The general manger John Shaw told me he would send the *ucking cops to my work and have me arrested for fraud. This guy is a class act. He feels the need to swear at and threaten 21 year old guys to make himself feel better about the wrongdoing he is participating in.
Mr. Shaw and the finance manager repeatedly left harrasing voice mails on my phone threatening me with various small talk. At one point I had to leave my job at lunch time for the day to go to the dealership and try to calmly talk with mr. Shaw about the fact that they had sold me a lemon and told me it had never been in a wreck and had a clean title. Now I have to take steps to get the car taking off of my bureau report as the dealership is refusing to take the car back.
So I dropped the car off and left it in there possesion. The best part is I recived a phone call the weekend after this from 4 people, one of which was an off duty state tropper whom I know who saw my car being driven at over 100 mph on 355 North in the middle of a saturday afternoon. State troopers were called but the car was off the highway when troppers responded.in doing some research I have discovered that this type of situation has occured on more then one occasion. This deaership will do WHATEVER IT TAKES and lie to anyone to make a commision. Stay away from bill kay ponitiac.
