To All,
I am writing this notice about Dairyland Insurance since I recently cancelled my policy. I voluntarily swtiched my policy due to better rates with another company.
I started my policy with Dairyland when I moved to Georgia, since my long time insurance company State Farm does not like to hold policies in Georgia, as evidenced by their rates. The policy started on 12/6/04 and ends on 12/5/05. I decided to cancel this policy on 6/1/05 and make it effective 7/15/05. My reasons for cancelling were better rates with another. What I feel is unfair for Dairyland is when you start your policy and pay your entire premium in advance, they do not tell you on the phone or during the quote process, that penalties apply for cancellation. They had my money up front. As a result, I received a refund check for about half the amount of unearned premiums I should have received. I was told when I called Dairyland that they reserve the right to charge a cancellation penalty on unearned premiums.
From comments I read on this web site, they do not pay dividends when they decide to cancel some one's policy. Why is that fair. I know I was never charged refunds for cancelling policies and changing policies from State Farm when I moved to Georgia. What is good for one should be good for all. I was ripped off, since the savings in insurance I would have realized were lost in BS penalties that should not exist. I can only advise not to do business with Dairyland insurance.
