I also wanted to join the class action suit.
In 1999 I purchased a Ford Escort from Ugly Duckling.
I paid on this vehicle on time for about 12-18 months.
The brakes we failing in the transcourse, they did nothing
to help me after repeated requests. I was involved in a
car accident in October of 1999. The vehicle was totaled.
I was faulted brakes failed I hit someone from behind who
stopped short at a changing light. I was without a vehicle
after that. Being s single mother of 3 is hard enough, try it without a car.in any event my insurance company paid off the total value of the car it was a 93-95 Ugly Duckling received the payoff, the vehicle was removed from my home and that was that. I never heard from them after that.
A year or more later when I could finance another car,
I go to a friend who owns a lot and he pulls my credit.
The SAME CAR is on my credit for the entirety of the loan
6500.00!!! As if they never received one payment nor the payoff for the total of the vehicle??? I was devastated. I to this day cannot purchase a car from ANYONE. They never made any attempts to collect nor contacted me for at least a year, the second I tried to finance another car they started harrassing me for 3000 dollars that I owe them for a lemon I don't even have, with bad brakes that could have cost me or my kids their lives!
I contacted the attorney general that year to get it removed from my credit. Despite all our attempts they have not at all responded to me as a consumer for selling me a dangerous auto.
Of course they deny and will never admit the mechanical faults, nor that they were not in touch with me to collect until I attempted to finance another car. All the while at the hefty sum of almost 30% interest and compounded daily I am sure.
I recently pulled my 3 bureau report and on one it shows the 6500, on the other it shows about 3500 and it cannot be removed by anyone and 6 years later I cannot get a car because of their unethical practices and terribly faulty vehicles. If there was ever a reason for me to sue a company-the safety of my children, is enough for me and my credit restored as well.in fact they have it listed as a REPO!!! I have all the Orange county impound lot papers and all my receipts and Allstate infomation, I doubt the car was worth more than 2000 with all the mechanical flaws it posessed-some that I may never even know of I am positive.
Please respond and tell me how I can also file suit, this is a 6 year cross on my back and my family is very affected.
