I have grown completely upset with the level of professionalism that World Ford in Sandy Springs has shown towards me and my family. Upon coming into the business to buy a 2003 Ford Explorer, I was greeted by friendly faces and savvy sales people. Little did I know that once money was brought into the picture, people would drastically change.
I was accepted by a bank and able to finance the vehicle I wanted. I advised them that I only had a check that would have to be held for 30 days until I could come up with the rest of the down payment for the vehicle. They accepted the check and advised me that they would not cash it until the date placed on the check.
I drove home with the vehicle. One week passed and as I checked my bank account like I do everyday, there was a substantial amount overdrawn. World Ford of Sandy Springs had cashed the check early and overdrafted my account. I called them immediately to ask them what was going on. My sales manager over my purchase (Derwyn), told me that he would contact the accounting department and see what was going on.
Later that evening he called me back to let me know that it was their mistake. I advised him that the fees for overdraft were their responsibility. He acknowledged that but did not agree to pay them. So I told him that I would have to find money to pay the down payment as well as the overdraft fees for three different accounts (when one account did not have the money, the bank tried to extract it from my other accounts). Therefore, the money that was going to be there for the check would not be there. He acknowledged that as well and apologized for the problem.
Two weeks later, checking my account again. The check was submitted again! This not only made me look bad with my bank but also overdrafted all the accounts that I had recently made current. Needless to say, I called again about the situation. The manager stated again that he would check with the accounting department. No money was returned for either date that they overdrafted the account. There has even been a situation where other customers have complained about checks being cashed early without permission or consent
by the customer.
Furthermore, I was not able to make the promised payment due to the overdraft fees. After the check was put through again on the date it was originally set for (after I told them I would not have it which caused more overdraft fees), I was threatened with a warrant going out for my arrest for writing a bad check! I was completely taken off guard with their utter disdain for honesty! They caused the fees which they will not pay back as well as tried to strong arm me without talking with me directly.
Never have I received a call from them about my account. Every call that has been made was made by me to rectify the account. The business that they run over there is very ruthless and low. After speaking with an attorney, I was advised that I could most deifinitely claim the overdraft fees, compensation for embarassment and even that the check may voided.
Therefore, since they held a check (which they are not allowed to do) then cashed it early (which is against the law) and on top of that they lied to the bank about receiving the money upfront in order to get me in the vehicle. They recently mailed a certified letter stating that I stole the vehicle and they will report me if I do not pay in ten days. They demand their money without taking into consideration their part in making the situation worse.
There are numerous other dealings that are not completely honest going on behind the scenes at World Ford Sandy Springs. I have other accounts and events which would be very interesting to a lawyer. I am overall very upset with the type of service I received from their staff and customer relations.
