Found problem, sent us to their mechanic, then wouldn't pay for it RIPOFF

We bought a minivan from Putt Putt two weeks ago. We noticed a hard-shifting problem (only noticeable when fully warmed up, not noticeable on test drive) and asked them to intervene. They said, "Oh sure, we'll take care of everything. Go to our mechanic on Monday morning".

So we took the van to the mechanic, he said there was certainly a problem and he would have to open up the transmission. Putt Putt had told us they would take care of it, so we told the mechanic to speak with them about a quote on the price and payment.

We then called Putt Putt ourselves and told them that work was required according to the mechanic. Nora at Putt Putt told us to go ahead and pay for the repairs and she would submit a claim to 'corporate' to reimburse us. We told her that the money should not have to come out of our pockets first and that she had told us that they would take 'care of everything'.

Nora said that she would tell corporate that we could not afford it and she what they said. She called back later and said that we must bring the van down to the lot at 8:30 that night for the 'corporate guy' to have a look at it. She said the 'corporate guy' does not trust what the mechanic said and he wanted to see for himself.

We informed Nora that a trip to Apache Junction at 8:00 at night is not do-able with three kids and a van that does not run reliably. What ensued was a barrage of harrassing phone calls (all from Nora) trying to convince us that we must bring the van down there IMMEDIATELY that night. She said we had to 'impress' the corporate guy and 'convince' him that there really was a problem. When we still refused to come down on such short notice she said 'You are refusing to produce the vehicle and all you are doing is making it harder on yourself'

We were doing no such thing! We had already taken it to THEIR mechanic! They offered to pay for it at first, but only if we paid and they reimbursed us. They even (at one point during Nora's calls) offered us to trade the van for a Chevy Cavalier! A little car! Not an even trade for a minivan.

We have continued to make our payments, and we consulted our own mechanic who agrees that their is a problem. He said all anyone had to do was hook up the van to a machine that reads trouble codes and the 'slippage' code would have come up immediately.

Putt Putt had their chance to handle this reasonably. We know our rights and intend to execute them.
