Ripoff, dishonest. Uses worn parts, charges for new, crook, does not honor warranties

Mechanic [Dimitrio]suckered me in with a very low estimate on an engine rebuild. But after he had my engine apart I now needed a major overhaul. I asked him to put my engine back into my vehical and he claimed it would be impossible to put the engine back in running condition and in my pick-up because the engine would now be so out of balance that it could not be driven.

So now I couldn't take it to anyone who does engine overhauls, unless I paid extra for towing etc. He told me not to worry about that. He would get one of the local places that did overhauls to pick the engine up at his place, and that he, dimitrio would only charge me for removal and installation of the engine.

A couple of days later, and after I had called a few places for estimates I went to see how things were going and he told me that he found two local places that he recommended, one place would do it for $2400.00 with a 6 month warrenty and the other for$2500.00 with a 1year or 1200 miles. Since those were some of the qoutes I had also gotten I belived him and told him to go for the $2400.00 6 mo. Or 6000 mi. One. And again asked him if the price included pick up and delivery. He assured me it did since the place was local and they only had to come a few blocks to pick it up.

The job was to take only 15 days and he needed the $2400.00 to pay them before they completed the work. I paid him $1700,00 that day $1500.00 a few days later I stayed oweing him $350.00 all total I paid him $3550.00.

Any way when I went to get my pickup on the day it should have been done it was still sitting there with no engine. I went in to see what was wrong and he told me the job was done but that U.P. S had sent my engine to Fresno, Ca. I wanted to know why would a garage that had supposedly picked up the engine send it through the mail. That's whene he informed me that he had sent my engine to Los Angeles Ca. To get the overhaule done. You can imagine how I felt about that piece of information!

After that it just went from bad to worse. I left my pickup there from March 3 till May 22. Just to get an overhaul the place that did the job offered no warranty. He dimitrio covered the warranty. He sent the engine with a cracked head, and then tried to say I did that myself after the job was done. So whatever they charged me to rebuild a cracked head was a waste of money.

So I purchased a new cylinder head $700.00 and had him install it so I might at least save on installation charges. He actually cross threaded one spark plug, and four cylinder head cover bolts. It is just too much to write down everything he has either not done right or has refused to repair or replace after he himself has caused the problem.

Any one reading this stay away from this crook!!!
