On December 9 my car was taken to a mechanic because my rear brakes were squeaking and there was also a squeaking noise coming from under the hood. After doing an inspection the mechanic told my husband that the car needed a brake job and that the rotors would have to be replaced. He also said that the noise under hood was because the belt needed to be changed.
Because the mechanic that did the inspection could not do the work that day and because firestone was closer to our house we decided to take the car to them to have the repaires that were suggested done I arrived at firestone at 4:15pm to have the repairs done.
About 5:10pm the person at the desk named Greg called me to the desk and told me the my brakes were done but that the noise under the hood was because bearings on the water pump were bad and the it needed to be replaced. I was given a quote of 314.88 to replace the water pump and another 70.88 for a coolant flush that they said I would need to have. They also said that they could not get the part in until the next day. I then gave Greg a check for $221.17 and told him that I would be back the next day. The next day I left work early so I could take the car back to them to get if fixed because my husband was going to use it to go out of town later evening. I arrived at firestone at 1:25pm and I was told that it would take a while to do the repairs and that I should go home and they would call me when it was ready. I told them that it was not a problem and that I would stay there and wait for my car.incidently Geroge asked me several more times if I wanted him to bring me home becaues it would be a while and each time I told him no.
I started to have an uneasy feeling like he was trying to get ride of me. While waiting for my car I heard Geroge and Greg laughing and talking about who had made the most sales for the day. At 6:35 Greg told me that my car was ready. I wrote him a check for $412.01. When I went outside to leave I notice that my car was setting really low in the back. I then went back inside and told Greg about my car. Greg and Geroge both said that the mechinc had turned off my air suspenion. Greg then came outside with me he said to turn it back on. Greg asked me for my car key to open the truck so he could turn it on. After he pushed the buttom to the on position I could here the air suspenion motor come on but my car did not rise. Greg then told me to let the car run for about ten minutes and I did but it still did not work. He then called for the mechanic to come out there.
When the mechanic that performed the work on my car came outside he told Greg "tell her to drive it around for a while" and then he turn around and went back inside. Greg then told me to go back inside because he was going to drive it around. Greg was gone for about 10 minutes and when he came back I was standing in the door and he got out of the car and told me that my pump was bad and that it would need to be replaced. I then told him that what he said was bull shit because there was nothing wrong with my air suspenison when I brought my car in there to have the water pump replced. Greg then went outside to talk to Geroge. Geroge then came in and told me that he would get a price on the pump and that he was only the assisted manager and I would have to come back on tomorrow to talk with the manage because it was time for them to close.
I will go back the first thing tomorrow morning to see what they will say. But I know that they are trying to rip me off. I will never again go to a firestone. I think I was treated this way because I am a femle. I also belived that the only thing these people really care is making money. No matter how dishonest it is.
