A.O.N. Collectors Car Insurance - Aka K&K Insurance Aka Employers Fire Insurance Company ripoff Did not cover losses, will not renew, refuse to communicate

I Live on Cape Coral in Florida and was hit by Hurricane Charley. A tree fell on my Classic 1966 Corvair, broke the winshield, scratched the paint, dented some sheet metal which left the windshield wipers inoperable and left tree sap on the car.

Hurricane Charley Damage

I have 100 % coverage (No deductible) and the car is insured for $7000.00 replacement value BY the insurance comapny

They sent out an adjuster and he seemed sympathetic and helpful. As I pointed out to him the damage the storm did AND the previous to the storm, rusted areas on the car that I was planning on working on with the help of competant friends who come down each winter

I have put $2500.00 in mechanical & maintainance work into this car with new parts and repairs in the four years I have owned it to get and keep it ruuning

What good is a cclassic car if you can't drive it?

I had it repainted in 2001 from White to Gold

When I got the check from
www.aoncollectorcar.com it was for $127.57

I immediately contacted them with my concerns, emailed, called them and sent them more pictures and info on what I have done to the car to restore it. ALL WERE IGNORED

The $127.00 will not even cover the installation of the windshield let alone buy a used or new one. I have a parts dealer who has every part to build a Corvair from the ground up and they only have "NEW" never installed glass available for $395.00) They are located in MA AND since the part weighs 70 lbs the shipping is 86.00 so that is $481.00 just for the parts and delivery then there is installation kit (another $20.00) and sealant and clips ($15.00) bringing the total for just parts to $516.00

Now I am disabled and can NOT install the glass so I will have to pay someone to do that I estimate another $75.00 minimum so we are talking about $591.00 to get the windshield replace

When the tree fell it also damaged the vent in front of the drivers side windshield and this prevents the wipers from working Cost to repair $109.00

Now the scratched paint in too many areas to mentions and a few smell dents were apparent too.

Now the tree sap and paint, to remove the sap and rob out the paint fix the dents from the tree and repaint the car is $500.00 minimum even if I chose Maaco

So I am looking at 1200.00

What is their reason for the $127. Check

The car showed no signs of ever being restored (it was painted and I added hubcaps and an aluminum facade to the rear end PLUS ALL the mechanical work)

The tree sap is Glue (what in the world would glue be doing on a car _ I sent a sample of "Glue" to the home office with my complaint

And now they tell me they can NOT renew my insurance because The car IS "NOT A CLASSIC" and that is a quote from the agent

They refuse to budge so I contacted the State Of Florida to see if they can do anything

Their Financial Services Department handles such claims

They have contacted me for more pictures of the car and any recipts I have to prove any work I found some for $575.00 for various parts (new generator - new muffler - the hub caps bought off of ebay - New Air conditioning compressor)

I don't have ALL the receipts because we were also flooded out the papers were destryoed (I contacted the place that painted the car but they said their building had sustained roof damage and water damage and thier computer hard drive was fried with ALL their customer info. The pictures should prove the car was painted) from white to gold)

I am still waiting for the State to get back to me with their findings

So YOU tell me How is restoring the car mechanically NOT making any attempt to restore the car

What good is a classic car if you can't drive it to shows and such?

By the way FEMA did Nothing to help even though they have a program for help for tranporation related claims where the insurance companies DO NOT COVER THE LOSS

None of any of this is exagerated at ALL

This company is a schill and I hope that I can expose them for what they are - sfieht (its german)

I never thought I would wish ill on anyone but this company A.O.N. Collectors car Insurance - aka K&K Insurance - aka Employers Fire Insurance Company and the agents I have dealt with Debbie Cauthorn - some office helper

- Kathy Osborn who singed the $127.00 check, have pushed me past that point. I could not get any other names of ANT higher ups in the company and am hoping the State Of Florida will help.

I saw another post on this site about Lowes and Generators after the hurrican where one of the respondants said he was a Red Cross Volunteer — I have never before need help as we did after Charley But If I has relied on the Red Cross I would have nothing more than I did just before the storm. These volunteers are put up at the best hotels and the ones I dealt with on THREE differnat occasions while hopefully well-meaning — WERE NO HELP AND were completely incompetent AND uniformed
