As an employee at a restaurant, my expectations were simple. I expected to be given an opportunity to sell a quality product, in an environment that met OSHA and health department guidelines, while being treated with respect.
What happened was something completely different. Shortly after being hired, I was informed that the ventahood over the grill area was inoperable, and that the owner of the restaurant had no intent of repairing it. I discovered a serious roach infestation issue, and was also informed that the owner had no intention of hiring a pest control service to rectify that issue either.
I learned shortly that the employees were yelled at and cussed at based on the whim of the management, and that discipline consisted of having hours cut at an extreme rate as they did not "fire anybody because Rudy doesn't have the money to pay unemployment.
