Bill Cook Advertised as a failed business needing to sell their lease to someone needing a POS, they would take a loss Internet

I responded to an ad on Craigslist, that read that a failed business stuck in a contract needed to sell their POS system to someone to just take up the payments. When I was contacted back, Mr Bill Cook called and set up an appointment to come meet with us. He came and met with my son whom is a partner, talked him into a "great contract" and got him to give him a 1000.00 check, made out to him. He was to come back the next day and set us up. He left and did not come back for over a week. We called and left several messages due to our NEW restaurant opening only days away. He did not call back. We got a little scared and felt the need to stop payment on the check. We learned that he left out restaurant and went straight to the bank and cashed the check. After several more attempts I finally made contact with him and he ended up coming the day before we opened our restaurant. He continously assured me that it would be up and running in 4 hrs. Well, after that day and night of working on the system, all day the next which was Friday the 13th, our opening day, it still was not fixed. (I had 12 waitresses that had to learn this system!) Needless to say, we had to open and he stayed and "helped"so we could open our business. What a disaster! It did not send all of the tickets to the kitchen, the ones that went was duplicated. What a mess! We had to close 3 hrs early, the next 2 days also. We are open Thurs-Sun. Also we were to have 4 terminals and 4 printers, well we had 2 systems and 2 printers. Saturday morning, he went into our restaurant before we got there (the cooks were there) and took out all of the software and the "brain" of the system and left. Again, he would not answer his phone, return any calls, and we knew then we had been ripped! A week later, he contacted my son and told him that he was scared to come back because he knows how small town cops are. Later he sent me an E-mail stating he was sorry about how everything happened and I informed him that I was going to have a attorney handle this. Again no more communication!
