Benson McDonalds off I-95

I live in Benson and both my husband and I are regular customers of McDonald's, although he eats there more than I do. My husband has been eating breakfast at a McDonalds weekdays for more years than we can count. He went to the Benson restaurant last Thursday 1/8/09 around 6:30 am as he was leaving town for work that morning. He took his order to go and when he took the biscuit out of the bag bag he said it felt funny. So he flipped on the overhead light and saw that the biscuit had a bite taken out of it! He was already several miles up the road and had to turn around and go back to Benson to report the issue. The staff was extremely rude and accused him of taking a bite of the biscuit and bringing it back because he didn't want it anymore. (He asked for his money back and the same biscuit, they only gave him the biscuit but why would he waste more time and turn around to complain and then ask for the same type of biscuit which was a bacon, egg and cheese?) The person he dealt with told him that the biscuit had crumbled and was not eaten from, which is calling him a liar. I think anyone can tell the difference between a crumbled biscuit and one that has teeth marks and a whole piece missing? If the biscuit had crumbled it still would have had the bacon egg and cheese remaining - duh!!! The staff (who is largely hispanic) laughed as he left the restaurant too. That is so disrespectful and rude.

My husband called the local corporate office once he returned to his office that day (by the way, the same people own several McDonalds in Wake and Johnston Counties I believe) and only received a call today 1/16/09 from someone who said he was a District Manager. This call only came 8 days later and after my husband emailed McDonald's Corporate office earlier today to report the issue. The DM was also rude and backed up what his employees said. However, the manager on duty that claimed that she had personally looked at the biscuit was a different race than the person who actually did look at it. My husband said that the manager on duty was on her tail in the dining room and did not even get up to see what the problem was.

Apparently the health dept was also called within 24 hours after this incident and cited this McDonald's for "several violations."

I am extremely disappointed in this location and the attitude of ths staff as well as the poor response of the local office. My husband has refused to set foot in McDonald's again, and quite frankly I don't blame him. I used to work for McDonald's in VA and we always treated our customers with courtesy and respect.

Do not eat at the Benson McDonald's!
