This last Saturday night my wife and I were on the road and stopped at around 7:45 at the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut in Lakeview, OH. I believe there were 4 employees at the time; I never the the impression that anyone was in charge. The drive-through line might have been pretty busy, but inside, where we were, there were not that many customers. Our order was taken quickly enough; we made what we thought was a simple, small order (less than 5$) but for some reason the staff there was unable to take care of it.
After a while I was just watching the staff in fascination, like you would watch a train wreck unfold. As I stated before, there disn't seem to be anyone in charge. The staff was running around frantically, sometimes bickering with each other, but they would stuff items in bags, look up at the order screen, and then empty the bags and redistribute the items to other bags. I would see them start to ut our items on the tray, as if to get the order ready, and then move the items into bags. At one point I looked at the clock after what has seemed to have been an inordinate amount of time. It was 8:00 PM.
We waited under 10 minutes, and there was still no apparent progress in getting our order finished so we left in disgust. I have seen chicken coops that were better organized than this place and I'll bet the average soccer riot is better supervised. Fortunately, there was a Burger KIng nearby where we were able to get a bite to eat.
