Waffle House has a procedure for filling orders that customers need to know about.
It is called "marking" plates. Let's say you order hash browns. The waitress will call out "mark one hash browns". The cook will then take a plate off the shelf and place a small amount of RAW hash browns in the plate.
That's "marking"
When the order is cooked, the cook will then put the cooked hash browns in the plate WITHOUT REMOVING THE RAW ONES!
I complained, only to be told by the district manager that "this is how it is done and WE WILL NOT CHANGE!"
