Homeward Residential Fraudulant Foreclosure

In the summer of 2008 my now husband and I went away for 4 days. Upon returning to his home a notice was in the mailbox stating the property had been abandoned. After following a long trail my husband was told the house was being foreclosed on because it was abandoned. (Funny that all of his belongings were in the home and he was current with his payments). He attempted to call AHMSI to get some answers but never got anything other than a message to leave his information and they would get back with him. He has to date never received a response. He came home one day and found his locks changed and all of the plumbing winterized (all utilities still in his name and mortgage payments current). Another call to AHMSI asking that they call him. Shortly afterwards he received a 1099A from them showing that the property had been sold for the amount they were asking at sheriff's sale. Never a notice on the door, any paperwork showing the house in foreclosure and no return phone calls. My husband had a job transfer so he packed up his belongings and stored them at my house. Before we were married he had his credit report pulled and low and behold a company named Real Time Resolutions showed up as the creditor trying to collect on the mortgage. He found their phone number and called them only to speak with someone who wanted him to give them $300 and they would consider the debt paid. My husband asked for the agreement in writing but you guessed it has not heard a word since. Fast forward to present day 2012. Upon having his credit report pulled yet another company Homeward Residential shows as trying to collect this same debt. After some digging we found that american home Mortgage Servicing and Homeward Residential are the same group just a different name. So, how can the original mortgage company sell a mortgage that was wrongfully foreclosed on to another creditor only to now own the mortgage again and still with no notice whatsoever to my husband? We even had an attorney try and contact them and he was unable to get any information from them.
