I started receiving calls on my cell phone from 888-247-9280 around the end of September. I don't answer if I don't recognize the number, so the first couple of times they called, I didn't answer. After 3 or 4 calls, I was tired of whoever this was calling me and figured I better answer so they'd stop calling.
It was Centurion credit card company. I didn't get the man's name, but he had an Indian accent. He told me I had been pre-approved for a $2000 credit card with 0% interest rate for 3 years and no annual or member fees. My credit is in the toilet since my divorce in 2002. I can't even get a gas card or open a checking account. He said all I had to do was pay the $249 processing fee and my card would be sent to me, he just needed my checking account number and bank routing number to withdraw the $249. I immediately felt like this was a scam, so I put the guy off and told him I didn't have my checkbook with me. He said he'd call me the next day.
GREAT! Well, this company has called me 8 times, just since 10-20-04! All of these calls are logged on my cell phone. I'm curious how they were able to get my cell phone number as I don't give it out and I have registered my cell phone on the national do-not-call list as this is my only phone. If anyone else starts receiving calls from this company, tell them to take your name & number off their list or you will have to take action according to the do-not-call list which includes a fine of up to $10,000 per call.
