I was sitting at home with the kids on a Sunday when a woman with a heavy accent called and said that I had been approved for an $8,000 grant and all I needed to do was clear them to take $257 from my account. They had the routing number for my bank and everything. I hung up because this didn't sound credible, they called back. I told the woman that it didn't sound credible and she had a very convincing argument of why it was credible. I gave them my account number then thought better of it. I said that I did not want to go through with the transaction and did not give permission and hung up. The woman called back a third time. Again I said no. I hung up and that was the end of it. Just to be sure I called my banks 24 hour customer service line and filed a stop payment on any transactions.
Please, people, tell friends and family about this and what a scam it is. These people are not taking NO for an answer.
