My husband and i fell behind after he took ill and was hospitalized in February. We contacted wamu and they suggested that we fill out a homeowner's assistance package. We submitted it twice because the first one they lost.
Mind you wamu never asked for any medical bills or doctor statements. Then we started getting letters of default, attorney's letters and they were asking for a substantial amount to reinstate the loan. I never heard from a representive and when i started calling to check on the status—i was referred to three different people-within weeks at a time.
Also, the last rep that i had-went on vacation and he never came back. Then i decided to sell my house and i was referred to a rep that had a very negative attitude and then eventually softened. Well to make a long story short-my house was eventually foreclosed on and sold at the public auction. I even tried to submit a good faith payment and it was returned back to me. I wouldn't recommend a single soul to fill out a homeowner's assistance package and that product is a hinderance and a joke.
