If this happens to you, do not let that happen. Request a copy of your credit report by via web Check your credit report for discrepancies and check the inquiries... If you notice that a company has requested your report without your consent... Write to them (send your letter confirmed delivery (get a signature and date) asking them why. Then notify the credit reporting agencies. It will take a lot of writing and time but it is worth it.
Collection agencies such as NCO are lethal and cause you stress... I had to change both my cell number and house number.
