When my husband passed away I decided to keep his truck and my car as I can use a truck around my house. When I called to inform The Hartford that he had passed away I asked them what my new premium would be and they RAISED my rates!!!
In spite of the fact that now only one of my vehicles will be driven at any given time they raised my rates!!!
I also have a homeowners policy and a long term care policy with them. No on else lives in my home so there is no danger of anyone else driving my vehicles.
As with most people I could go on and on and on about the evil insurance companies and what they charge and their efforts to NOT pay out any money to their insureds but this is beyond the pale. It is so wrong there are no words to describe it...
I would have been better off NOT informing them of my husbands death - so you think twice before you do it!!
