Rip-Off late payments make you a common criminal

I had a car financed through harris bank and I came across some hard times so I was going to sell it to a friend who was getting an inheritance because his aunt died. He got the car in late april, made two payments on it and he was supposed to get his inheritance in June.

Things didnt go as planned and in August I had to take my car back from him because it was two months late. Harris had been calling me and I was trying to scrape up the money to pay them. I had spoken to a gentleman in the middle of August and told him the situation.

August was a rough month, my father was told he has 2 months to live, I got my car back which was a big unexpected bill, and we had a lot of problems in my family.

He was rather understanding, but my paycheck wasnt until August 24th. On the 23rd I had gotten a phone call from their collections and I told the female that my friend was mailing $270 that night and the next day I would be mailing $250, leaving about $340 left to pay (my monthly payments were around $250/mo).

That wasnt good enough. She wanted me to have my friend call her directly to make a payment over the phone. I dont think so. I dont make payments on the phone and I am sure my friends dont. Then she wanted me to send money western union. I am sorry but I told her I would be sending the money the next day.

My friend mailed hers that night and I mailed mine on the 24th. On the 25th they had sent out a reposession notice and my payment went through and cleared the bank between the 27th and the 30th. On the first of september the repossession company called my -grandparents - house and the girl said she was an old friend of mine, back in town wanting to spend time with me.

My grandparents know all my old friends, I am not that old myself and they raised me. I got scared because she left my grandparents a number and my grandmother told me, the area code was from a town I had an ex boyfriend in, who currently to my knowledge was in prison.

I didnt know what this woman wanted and later that day some girl comes up to my apartment door talking on her cell. She was wearing daisy duke blue jean shorts and a tight blue tank top that showed off cleavage. I didnt want to answer because I was already dressed for bed, and I didnt know her.

I heard her saying "No she isnt coming out yet... No you go on I will wait for her to come out" God knows what I am supposed to think!? But then she called my grandma and told her she was there to repossess my car and my grandma called me and told me.

I got dressed, answered my door and asked to see the papers. The lady shown me and I gave her my keys to the car. The next day I was to call the bank to see how much money I had to pay before I got my car back and my grandparents would bring me the money that morning.

When I called I got the same lady that said it wasnt good enough that I mailed my check in. She told me it was $348 left on the car. And $300 for the repo company. Okay, I suppose we could have managed that. But then I told her that their repossession lady scared me. I told her about it because she sounded concerend like she wanted to know what tactics they were using.

She was like "oh my god, I cant believe you are sitting here worrying about what our repossession people wear when they come to take your car for not making payments!" I calmly told her maybe if she was dressed more business casual I would be more inclined to answer the door.

She was all sarcastic like what you expect them to wear vercacci suits? I told her no but maybe some slacks or something decent. And she told me their repossession people have to deal with "unsavory" customers. Well much the same I dont like answering my door to "unsavory" people.

She wasnt fully comprehending the fact that my complaint was that she had lied to my grandparents and when someone shows up at my door looking like that what am I to think? That my ex boyfriend sent someone after me or my ex's girlfriend is after me. I know one of his ex girlfriends tried to run another one of his girlfriends off the road as she was leaving town.

The Harris bank collections lady went on further to say "maybe instead of you sitting around worrying about what our repossession people are wearing you should worry about getting a job!" I told her I have a job and I had just gotten off work at 7am.

"Oh really what do you do?" she said. I told her I worked for a alarm monitoring central station for police and fire dispatch. "Well that sounds really important for someone who dont pay their bills!". I calmly said it is important, and if she would had read the notes on there she would have seen why my payments were late.

"I know what those notes say I called you a few days back and you hung up on me!" she said. Of course I did I told her because she was being mean and I didnt have to put up with it. "We were being mean huh? You want to see mean? Mean is when we auction off your car and get our attourneys on you and make you pay on a car you no longer have!"

How rude. She further said "Well I am 'sorry' that you feel that way about how our repossession people dress" I said it didnt sound like she was sorry. She laughed and said that she wasnt. The audacity of it all!

I dont know about you, or half the people on earth who end up with money problems, but just because I hit a rut doesnt make me a common criminal and I shouldnt be spoken to like that. At least I kept my dignity through the conversation which is less than I can say for her.
