Just as the former complaintant wrote, I too was charged approximately $120 by Citibank without my consent. When I saw this charge, called "Essentials Gold, " I called them directly and was told they are a company offering "shopping discounts" and that I must have applied for their program (as if I need to pay $120 to get a discount!). I stated that I absolutely had NOT applied for this program, which should have been obvious considering the address they had on file for me was more than five years old (I receive my statement electronically).
The most galling aspect was the salesperson attempting to sell me the plan, by asking several times what stores I shop at—Home Depot? Target? Etc... I had to repeat several times that I simply wanted the charge removed, thanks, since your company had just tried to steal $120 from me. Still waiting to see if it has, indeed, been removed, and I intend to cancel my credit card. The interest rates were too high anyway.
