I wanted to buy gold bars just as a hedge against inflation. A very nice sales person told me how great platinum coins were. I purcased 5 Early Release Platinum Eagles for $3,595.00 each. It has been very difficult to get answers from anyone on the current value. A few times I have been told that they will buy them back for around $2600.00 each. I soon received a call from a sales person that thought I wanted to buy the same coins, and the price they quoted was $3,600.00 each. These are the same exact coins, except for mine are worth $1,000.00 less than theirs.
I have decided to liquidate all five coins and take the $5,000.00 loss, but I can seem to get anyone to talk to me about the sale. They keep telling me to hold on to them for a few more years so they can recover in value. I feel like they are just trying to string me along, and that they will never be worth the price I paid.
They claim to feel bad for my loss, so while I'm waiting for these coins to gain back their value, they try to sell me some more coins that they swear will make up for my losses. All of my complaints are met with more sales pitches and more promises that never seem to work out.
