I received this letter the other day from my bank:
"Dear S* S*:
We are writing to notify you that your recent payment of $30.00 to FCNB was returned because of incorrect address information.
We have placed a stop payment on check number 4059641 and credited the amount to your Pay From account. You should see the credit within two to five business days.
We recommend that you contact FCNB to make other payment arrangements.
On your behalf, we have updated this payee's address in your bill payment record. This will ensure your payments are delivered correctly and on time in the future.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
I was not notified by FCNB that there had been a change of address. I just received my statement, now from Card Processing Center in Hicksville, NY with a new account number and a $35.00 late fee. As other on this site have noticed, there is no number other than an automated line which does not allow you to speak with anyone. I got on the internet to try and find one and here I am.
We should have been notified of this change and surely you would think that if FCNB was purchased or contracted by Card Processing Center, that arrangements would have been made to forward payments to the new owner or whomever.
My thoughs are that if I no longer have an account with FCNB then why am I paying anyone. Especially someone who fails to notify their customers of what is going.
Anyway, i am just getting started in my quest to get my $35 back and look for any assistance from other who may make faster headway than I.
My bank did append my online banking address to the new Hicksville address which is shown on my statement, but I do not feel I and modt likely the thousands of other cardholders should pay any late fees for going ahaed and making their payment on time to the only address we knew of at the time.
