Rip off innocent people that just need to stay home to work

On April 25 I responded to a help wanted ad on Monster.com for a Customer Service Representative for Independent Wireless. They immediately responded back to me by email. They stated that my resume was very impressive and that the email was a formal job offer and that I was suppose to click on a specific link to make my payment of $85.00 for a very special headset needed to be able to take customer calls through my computer without having to have a special phone line. I failed to keep that first email.

Before doing anything, I went to their website www.getindepentdent.net and checked it out and it looked very professional and legitimate. I then checked out the BBB and different websites and found no negative reports. I called the company the next day and spoke with a gentleman by the name of Antonio. He was very nice and explained to me that he had just started working there and it was legitimate.

So on April 26, I paid the $85.00 by e-check using www.globalcheck.com. I don't have the original link they emailed to me. On April 28 Shantee Williams called me and welcomed me to the company and said the headset would be on its way as soon as the check cleared the bank in 10 to 14 days and then we can get started.

On the morning of April 29 I went to their website and discovered that the website was down, so I tried to call them and discovered the phone number was disconnected. I panicked and called the bank and stopped payment on the check. On May 1 I tried the phone number again and got an answer and talked with Shantee Williams again and she was very upset with me cause I stopped payment on the check and gave me some story about updating their systems is the reason everything went down temporary.

Sounded convincing to me so I sent another e-check for another $85.00 plus a $25.00 for a total of $110.00 for the check going back to them unpaid. Shantee said that would be necessary for me to be able to work there. After that I waited 10 days for my check to clear and still no headset.

On May 10 I started calling and did not get answers, so I left 1 to 2 messages everyday asking about my headset and a start date, with no call back. Finally on May 28, I got a hold of someone by the name of Kevin Chambers. He seemed very apologetic and emailed (email enclosed) me an employment packet (I enclosed the packet) I filled it all out and faxed it back that very day. I then received an email from a new person by the name of Patrice Freeman about a training session (email enclosed with my responses).

I did finally receive a headset on June 14. I paid $85.00 for this headset and it is the same thing that you can buy at the Dollar Store for $5.00, it's ridiculous. After calling everyday again with no answer I finally got an email from Patrice Freeman about a training date for June 16 at 1:00pm EST. I got confused about the time zone, so she did call me personally so we could figure out what time I would be attending the training which was 12:00pm. She was supposed to send another email 24 hours before the training to give us info on what to do and I never got the email.

I sat in front of my computer on June 16 until 1:00pm waiting on this training that never happened. I tried calling, but of course no answer and no call back to my messages. On June 18 I did talk with Kevin Chambers and asked him about the training and he gave some excuse about Patrice Freeman's email quit working and he sent everyone emails explaining and he must have forgotten to send one to me. He sent me an email on June 18, but it was dated June 16 and said it was from Patrice Freeman (email enclosed). After several calls (about everyday) and several emails (attached).

I finally received another email setting a training date on June 27 at 8:00pm (attached). I finally got to start what they called training and there were 97 people in this training session which was suppose to be one on one training. This Host (Taylor Small) quickly went over stuff on the website that we already knew and then a couple of the trainees asked if this job was legitimate and the Host left and never came back. We all stayed on and discussed whether we thought it was legit or not. There are several negative comments on this website http://usacomplaints.com that were brought to our attention from some of the other trainees.

I have not heard a word from this company ever since June 26. I have called and left messages 2 to 3 times a day with no response from them. This is just awful. We had to close our company because of my husband's health and I did not have that extra money for this stupid headset, but I wanted to work from home so badly to stay with him in case of an emergency that I let my desperation override my common sense. But I could not find any negative comments on this company when I first started this and now there are negative comments everywhere.
