We experienced a leaky roof which in turn caused a mold infestation. We were told that it was not covered in our policy.
After extensive clean-up, lost wages due to mold-related ilness and moving to a new house, and throwing away $5,000 worth of items, we reviewed our policy and descovered that some of the damage was covered in our policy.
Usaa Ins. (Lynn Graff-Senior Property Claims Rep) admitted that they mistakenly told us that there was no valid covereage, however since we got rid of the moldy evidence they would not pay for anything.
Lynn told me due to a technicality, they only have to pay for what got moldy due to the original contact with the water leak but none of what it spread to. They also wont pay the decontamination bill of $1,600 because they never heard of the company. Again because they misinformed us we tossed out the damaged items and presto-they dont have to pay that either.
I have a new, unfunded non-Profit organization, with a 501c3 statis that has been crippled because of there unethical behavior. I'm also a veteran of the 82nd airborne. Shame on them
