About 2 weeks ago, I opened an account at US Bank in Arnold, MO. At that time, the manager and his clerks told me about all the wonderful perks they had. I had no real complaints against the bank I had been using, but felt US Bank was offering a little more. Yesterday, I deposited my paycheck in the morning, and was told at that time that $200 would be available that day and the balance would be available today. I phoned the Arnold branch and was assured that was correct.
This afternoon, I went to the grocery store where the bank is located and went to the ATM to make a withdrawal. The transaction was denied twice, so I asked the clerk to look into it. I found my deposit slip and showed it to her, told her where I deposited the check and what time. She informed me that I couldn't get my money for 5 days. I explained that I had deposited all the money I had, and that we needed to buy groceries, pay a bill and get gas to go back and forth to work. She informed me again that I couldn't have my money... That the check I deposited was not a US Bank check. Now, my company has been in business for over 140 years and is financially sound. The girl further informed me that the next check would also be held for 5 days. I told her they had not informed me of that when I opened the account. She spoke with Brandon Addis, who wouldn't even speak to me. He sent the girl back out with the comment that it was on a piece of paper in the file they gave me. I phoned the customer service department (1800-872-2657) and explained I needed my money to buy some groceries, and they refused to assist me. They said that if I closed my account, they would penalize me. I informed them that they would need to speak with my attorney.
