"Free Credit Card" Scam STOLD MY MONEY

On Oct. 3rd of 2001 I recieved a phone call from a company called A.C.S. They immediately assured me that I had sent them a credit card application (which I had not) and were calling to offer me 3 credit cards worth something like $2500.00 each - two visas and a mastercard (after a brief 10 second "check" when he supposedly was examining my credit and contacting his superiors).

I was very sceptical and asked repeatedly if I would recieve these credit cards in the mail, if they were bank issued cards, if they were useable in any store, etc. The rep assured me over and over that yes, they were real credit cards, and would be sent 10 days after the "processing fee" was deducted from my checking account. The fee was $219.00!!!

I nearly hung up the phone. I sincerely wish I had!
AS soon as I agreed to the fee, the rep put me on a line with a "supervisor". The line was hard to hear, the supe had a wierd accent, and talked very fast. I got the same assurances from him, and gave him the required account data. After that a computer voice rattled off confirmation numbers and rules and regs for several minutes.

Toward the end of Oct. I had recived nothing but a slew of credit card offers from various organizations - all wanting $29.95 to over $150 for thier cards, but nothing from A.C.S.

I called up the customer service number (not a toll free #) several times, as it was busy each time I called. When I finally got someone they said the would rush my packet out to me.

Also they changed the deal on me from "we'll send you 3 cedit cards in a packet in 10 days", to "we sent your info to banks who will call you with credit card offers".

A week later I got a UPS packet with a 1/2" thick booklet on "how to improve your credit rating", a bunch of cupons for vacations, camera film, etc., and NO CREDIT CARDS!

Naturally, the processing fee I paid, I found out to be non-refundable. Plus everything has to be used within 60 days of the $219 fee payment, due to "overwhelming popularity" of the program.

It is now 22 dec and still no credit cards. I'm pretty sure I'll never see any. This company stole my money and sent me a packet of crap worth less than $10. I strongly advise everyone to stay away from this company, and any other using this easily recognizable pitch. It's a complete scam!
