I had received a credit one credit card about three months ago and when trying to make my first two payments online, the site was down. When I called in to make the payment, I was forced to pay a $10 fee.
Today was month number 3, when trying to make the payment, the site was down again and I was being forced to pay the $10 fee. This time around, I refused to pay the fee and was directed to a different number for customer service. After being on hold for 15 minutes, I gave up and called the payment center back.
While having intentions on just paying the fee, I first asked what the balance was and was surprised to hear that my balance was $90 more than expected and that my credit limit was also $100 more than it previously was.
When I asked why my bill was so high, not receiving a bill in the mail or being able to sign on line, I was told once again that I had to call customer service. Being more patient this time, I waited on hold for about 20 minutes before someone finally answered but couldn't hear me and disconnected the call.
When I called the payment center again to find out how to just pay off the card and cancel it, I was told by the representative that I could pay my bill with him for a $10 fee but that I would have to call customer service to cancel the card.
