CAMCO, was fined $300,000 in US District Court (USDC) in April. Go to the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc. Gov) for further info. CAMCO, is trying to collect debts that are now uncollectable accoring to Federal Law. Something has got to be done about this.
This company targets innocent people and tries to bully them into settling. They told my dad, the reason they haven't reported him yet was because of his impeccable credit. What garbage, since when does a debt collector care about your credit and worries if they will tarnish it. Simple, they don't. Believe me I know, I filed bankruptcy when I was 22 years old, and trust that they don't give a hoot.
Long story short... The USDC outlined very specific guidelines for CAMCO to operate under. This complaint was signed by the USDC and attorneys for CAMCO. Matter of fact, they got an extension to pay the fine, citing, lack of proper notice. Ironic don't you think? Don't believe me, go to the FTC web site and see for yourself.
The Federal Government must step in and protect us from scams like this. Contact your legislators, Attorney General and Department of Commerce. Maybe if enough offices get flooded with complaints they will get off butts and do something. I will be filing a formal complaint with mine.
