I am a bookkeeper for my father-in-law. He had accepted a phone call from these people and they sent him a contract to sign along with a form that gives them power of attorney and declaration of representative. Phoenix Financial Group as they are called, will also charge $1,600 for their services.
Since I handle all bill payments and work with my father-in-law's accountant, I asked the accountant if this was a legit business, and it turns out it's not. This is unreal since this company requests identificaton numbers, tax ID numbers, social security numbers and P.I.N. And bank account numbers.
For the elder, their pitch sounds like a great idea with relief to taxes. Thank godness I intercepted the mail and contacted the accountant. Who knows how much of my father-in-law's assets they could have taken. Those scumbags!
