I'm writing my complaint due to the fact that HRS is posting incorrect information on my credit report. I'm currently disputing with Transunion to get this removed, but of yet do not have any recourse.
The account was opened in 1990. I was born in 1978, and not old enough to enter a legal contract. (See a problem here?)
The issue comes from the fact that my father and I share the same legal name. When he died in 1996, all accounts that he, and my mother shared as joint were transferred into my name (thinking he just got a new SSN). The credit bureaus say that this is a very common mistake, and "Not to worry" we'll take care of it.
Well. Years later when I'm trying to purchase a first house; the credit report still shows the incorrect charge-off on my account (which my mother had defaulted on after my father's death.)
I'm a fairly nice guy, and am willing to go the extra mile. Even if I shouldn't have to; especially because this one means a lot to me. I'm even willing to fax these guys a copy of my birth certificate, drivers' license. Anything that would validate my DOB and invalidate the item in question.
However... I can't get an HRS rep to even do something remotely useful... Like putting me in contact with a supervisor, or someone who deals with old accounts/or can remove the fraudulent entry that's dropping my credit score 50 or more points.
Sorry... Just venting. What I see online makes me feel good that I'm not the only one out there having issues with this sham of a company.
