Update:
There has been a middle eastern gentleman calling my family members, friends and previous employers telling them that he is from the Federal Bureau of Legislation in San Francisco and that there is a lawsuit in the Supreme court of California trying to locate me. This person goes by many different names including David Jones and Nevan Jones. The phone numbers that they have called me directly from are 877-273-3560 and 760-278-1372.
First of all, there is no such organization. Secondly I dont owe these people any money. Thirdly, these people have my full identity including my full social security number, my relatives names and addresses, my mothers maiden name etc. And repeat all of my information to everyone they call. They are trying to get other people to send them money because they claim I owe it. They almost scammed my dad into sending money. I have notified all three credit bureaus, the better business bureau, my attorney, the Federal Trade Commission and the local police departments in Blythe CA (where one of the numbers is located) and my local police department. The BBB indicates that they cant do anything because they are not an accredited business with them.
The owners of one of the phone numbers of the scammers belongs to a company called Broadwing Communications (who provide telecom services to the Government). Just a thought, but I wonder if the Social Security Administration uses this vendor and if somehow their database was hacked. They have full social security numbers and they are representing themselves as being part of the Government. As much information as these people have, I can only imagine that the Social Security database holds this info. Just a thought..
In the meantime, I also reported them to the Office of Inspector General at the Social Security Administration to investigate. There are thousands of complaints out there that these people have very personal information and worried sick like I am.
