Indymac bank took 18 months to approve my loan mod. They lost my paperwork at least five times and demanded I spend money for CPA"s letters when I was in a money crisis. The stress I endured during this process of trying to save my home was unbearable.
At last, I was elated when loan mod was approved. Six months went by with my adjusted payment, then I received notification that I was being retroactively billed for an escrow account that was for paying my property taxes. I had not understood that Indy was paying my property taxes, so I paid them. I had to borrow money to pay the second payment. So, I had paid $2000 in prop. Taxes as well as Indy paying them.
I was never notified by Indy that they were paying them. When I spoke to the representative from Indy, she told me, it was my fault and not their problem. I should have read the loan mod agreement. OK, true, I did not understand. But then I asked how I could get this issue resolved and was told to go to the L.A. Tax office and Fax proof of payment that it was double paid. Which I did. This was 3 months ago. I am still being billed by Indy for back taxes that have been paid twice. I have received no refund from Indy, I have letter from L.A.Co. Tax collector stating that it was overpaid and refund was sent to Indy.
I have called twice to seek help with no response. I have done exactly what I was told by Indy reps - no response. I have tried to get the Federal gov. To help but Indy is not under their jurisdiction. I have tried to get the state to help and they told me they could do nothing. I don't wish to hire a lawyer over this because of the time and money involved when I am trying to save my home. So, I am at a complete loss as to what action I can now take.
