I made a payment through their automated system on 1/22, using the same bank info I always do. Their automated system says would you like to use the same info, then you press 1, enter the check # and pmt amount. I get a call on 2/13 from a very rude Mavis asking if I'm going to make payment. I told her I made a payment, furnished her with the confirmation #, etc. I was then told it was returned due to insufficient funds.
I immediately called my bank. They have no record of this and said if they did I would have received notice from them stating such. I called Providian back, numerous times, explaining that since my bank had no record of what they were talking about they would need to send me some kind of proof. They said they couldnt. They said I would need a letter from the bank stating it was an error on their part and they will waive the fees.
I once again called my bank back and they told me they cannot provide any info on something they have no record of, which makes since to a normal human being. I told Providian that I could provide them with my bank statement showing a daily balance proving that the funds were available and that it was some kind of error on their part. They still will not budge or send me any proof that they received something from my bank. This is over a whopping $65. I ended up paying the late fee and return check fee just to avoid it ruining my credit and they still said it was reported on my credit report.
I cannot believe this company is still in business. I have all the info to prove them wrong that I am willing to send them and they said they cannot accept it.
