I received a letter from Cross Country Bank stating that if I did not respond by March 1 I would be obligated to pay a substantial annual membership fee. All within their rights except, I received the letter on February 28. Not exactly fair opportunity.
This is when the real trouble started. I moved the 1st week in March opening a new bank account. I cancelled the card with a letter and a check for my final payment on my old bank account and sent it off. I received a letter from CCB stating the received the card and thanked me for my business.
I never gave it a second thought until 3 1/2 months later when I started receiving collection calls for 384.00 (My final payment was 196.00} When I contacted them they said they never received a payment I now owed them for late fees and other charges. I though this was odd, they received my letter but not the check in the same envelope, yea right.
After speaking with a "Supervisor" I was told to send the 196.00 and they would consider the matter closed. I sent the payment certfied mail and have a signed postal card staing the received it and cashed the check. I thought it was over until 3 months later where now I receive up to 15 calls a day wanting all the past due "Interest" and "Penalties" BEWARE OF CROSS COUNTRY BANK
