Victimized to Pay for A Nonexistent Loan - Frustrated & Badgered by Calls to my workplace

I received a recent call from a guy, no accent, identifying himself as Tim Peterson asking 'is this (my name) with a SS# (last four number). He stated I had an outstanding loan for Cashnow.com from last year for $150.00, you now owe over $5,000. I told him I don't know what he is talking about; he asked if I had received any calls recently, I told him no. He then said, 'well it obvious you havent got notice before and gave me a number to call him back with my bank account number and it would only be $202. This guy gave his name as Tim Peterson.

I then checked my voicemail, which I am bad about checking and sure enough, I had recently got a voice mail on my cellphone stating "you don't know what is going on over here or whats about to happen to you, but I need you to get call back immediately". Strange background, and the caller had an Indian accent. The caller went on threatening me with arrest and stating my accounts had all been seized and would be turned over to the American Legal Services and I would be arrested and taken into Federal Court for bank fraud and money laundering if I ignored the message and did not return their call.

I frantically checked all my statements for the past couple years, and NO RECORD of any deposits as he said. (I had all my statements for the past couple years thank God.) He called me back the next day at work again, at lunch time, and said I failed to return his call. And I told him I checked my records and show no record of any deposits. However, if he can fax me documentation to prove what he is saying I will pay but I don't just pay a bill without proof.

He told me to wait a minutes. After 15 minutes he came back, and stated 'uh, the file seems to be missing. But just send the payment and all the documentation will be provided along with access to the website.' He left me a number to reach him directly. The next day I called, after conferring with my lawyer, and asked for Tim Peterson - it did not sound like the same person on the other end, and I told him that I needed a copy of the documentation first as proof it was owed, as I have no record of any such transaction; as soon as I get that to show I owe this money - they will be paid.

The whole experience has left me feeling very violated and wondering how they got my bank, SS# and even my phone number.
