Cambece Law Firm
Won't provide proof of debt threatened with lawsuit and adding debt amount to student loans

I received two phone messages from this law firm. I contacted them and inquired about the messages they had left.

When I was notified that this was for a charged off credit card. I asked them to send me a written notice of the debt. I was transferred to the "financial manager". He pulled up my credit report and proceded to read all of my accounts to me. He then threatened to sue me and garnish my wages.

I kept repeating why would I agree to pay something that I have no proof of towing. He then threatened to have this amount added to my student loans.information that he had obtained from my credit report. I hung up after asking them to just send me written notice of this debt.

I called back after receiving a third message addressed to my spouse. A third party to this situation. We keep our credit separate.

I again asked for the letter and was prompty hung up on. I called immediately back and explained that it was my right to have this information in my hands so that I could research this debt. He told me that I had no rights. I again asked for the letter. He accussed me of using this as a stall tactic.

I informed him that I had filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission about their business practices. He, of course didn't believe me. To say the least I filed a second one after this third phone call.

I found their business information on the Internet after looking up on the Better Business Bureau website.
